Rio de Janeiro is frequently represented through beaches, mountains and iconic panoramas. Beneath and between these familiar images exists another city of platforms, tunnels, passageways, concrete surfaces and daily movement. The Metro connects important districts and introduces a technical urban rhythm into the Brazilian metropolis.

The Rio de Janeiro Edition transfers this side of the city onto natural black slate. At its centre is a detailed full side-view illustration of a Rio Metro train. Its windows, doors, carriage structure and technical linework have been developed specifically for clear laser engraving.

The light engraving creates a strong contrast against the dark stone. This combination of precise train artwork and rough natural slate connects modern infrastructure with the direct, layered urban character of Rio de Janeiro.

The Rio de Janeiro Edition is strictly limited to only 25 pieces worldwide. Each plaque is individually numbered 01/25 to 25/25 on the reverse and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
